Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer (Windows File Manager)

Windows Explorer is sometimes confused with Internet Explorer. A better name would be the Windows File Manager. Windows Explorer displays the hierarchical structure of files, folders, and drives on your computer. Using Windows Explorer, you can copy, move, rename, and search for files and folders. For example, you can open a folder that contains a file you want to copy or move, and then drag the file to another folder or drive.

Windows XP has several standard system folders on your hard disk, such as; My Documents, Documents and Settings, Program Files, and Windows. The My Documents folder is a standard folder for storing your documents, photos, music, or other files. Unless you are absolutely certain of what you are doing, it is advisable for you to stick with the My Documents folder on the hard disk for all your files. The Recycle Bin is where Windows places files and folders that are deleted by you. This gives you the opportunity to retrieve them if they were deleted by mistake, at least up until you empty the Recycle Bin.
