Digital Camera Tip

Advantages of Digital Camera Photography.

My experience with digital photography has opened up a whole new world using digital images. Digital cameras have come a long way and it is my opinion that they produce better images than film photography. For me, the two biggest advantages are the cost savings and the versatility of digital images. Here are the advantages:

  1. Instant verification and enjoyment. You get to verify the image right after you have taken it, to a degree at least. Sometimes the image can be somewhat out of focus and you will not detect that until you see the image on your computer. You can immediately share the images with the family by displaying them on the TV. At our family reunion, we would gather the images from that day, select a few good shots, print them, and then paste them up on the wall for the family to admire and relive the day.

  2. Shoot away and then pick the best. Since you only have to pay for the images that you print, the number of shots you take is only limited by the memory card. Even that is just a temporary limit. If you are near an available computer, you can transfer your photos to the computer and then delete the photos on the memory card and then keep on shooting. If you are traveling, you can request a photo developing store to transfer your photos to a CD making your memory card available to take more photos.

  3. Ability to edit photos. If you have a computer and photo editing software, you have the ability to touch up your photos. This ability was not available using film. Most often the touchups are to remove redeye, lighten or darken the image, add more contrast, crop the image, or remove some unwanted object. Your good photos become even better with some touchups.

  4. Printing isn't necessary. I find that my photos are much more vivid and enjoyable by viewing them on my computer screen. With the advent of the new flat panel TV's, you can show off you photos to family and friends and enjoy the near life images. You can also upload your photos to online family albums so your family members in other cities can enjoy them the same day there are taken.

  5. Easy and inexpensive duplication. Gone are the days where you get a copy of a copy and the quality leaves a lot to be desired. Digital images can be copied over and over without loss of quality. Today, you can easily duplicate your entire photo album to a CD or DVD for less than a dollar. You can back up all your photos to a CD, DVD, or flash key and then put them into a safe deposit box. You no longer have to lose any images to relatives borrowing a photo to copy, or fire, flood, or tornado.

  6. Photo images provide lots of options. You can email a photo to anywhere in the world. You can upload your photo images to WalMart or Walgreens to print. You can create greeting cards with the photos, have printed on a T-shirt, a coffee mug, calendar, or other objects.
